Provenance and Authenticity

All works presented on this site are original artworks created solely by the artist.

Each Piece is conceived, produced, and finished by hand, and no works are reproduced or issued as editions unless explicitly stated at the time of release.

Provenance is treated as an integral part of the work itself, not an afterthought.

Artwork Records

A detailed provenance record is maintained for every completed artwork. These records are held privately by the artist and are retained indefinitely to support long term authentication and ownership clarity.

Each provenance record includes, but is not limited to:

  • Title of the artwork

  • Year of creation

  • Dimensions and medium

  • Series name and position within the series, where applicable

  • A unique internal reference number

  • High resolution reference images, including detail imagery

  • Process notes specific to the work

  • Date of first sale

  • Collector details or anonymised ownership reference

  • Exhibition, competition, and publication history

This information is not publicly displayed but is securely archived and cross referenced against each work.

Certificate of Authenticity

Every completed artwork is accompanied by a signed Certificate of Authenticity.

Certificates correspond directly to the internal provenance record held by the artist. Replacement certificated are issued only under strict verification and at the artist's discretion.

Ownership and Ongoing Provenance

A private provenance ledger is maintained for all works.

Collectors are encouraged to notify the artist of any change in ownership so that provenance records remain accurate over time. This supports future authentication, valuation, and resale clarity.

While ownership updates are not mandatory, they are strongly recommended to preserve the integrity of each work's history.

To notify the artist of any changes to ownership, please reach out via mooneyart@outlook.com

Artist's Resale Right (Droit de Suite)

The artist asserts their rights under the UK Artist's Resale Right.

A resale royalty may apply on qualifying secondary sales made through art market professionals, in accordance with UK legislation. Responsibility for reporting and payment rests with the seller or intermediary, as defined by law.

Edition Policy

Original works are unique, one of one pieces.

No editions, copies, or reproductions are produced unless clearly stated in advance. Any future editions will be explicitly labelled, limited, and recorded separately within the provenance archive.

Archiving and Longevity

Both physical and digital records are securely stored to ensure long term authentication and continuity. Provenance records are retained indefinitely in support of the artwork's lifespan beyond the initial sale.
